AfroDrip is a meeting place for the African continent and the African diaspora overseas. We give a stage to African and Afro descendant artists to share their dance, music, knowledge and stories, and to keep the cultures behind the movement alive.

OUR STORY · SINCE 2019
From a small gathering to a worldwide movement.
AfroDrip began in 2019 as a small community gathering, a place where dancers could come together to freestyle, party and share their love of African music and movement. Before the bigger stages and international lineups, there was a simple feeling: the freedom to express yourself, exchange with others and belong. That community spirit is still the heartbeat of everything we do.
Today, AfroDrip has grown into one of the world’s biggest African street dance camps, bringing together an international community of dancers, teachers and culture lovers. Our reach has grown, but our purpose remains rooted in the people and cultures that started this journey. With every edition, we create more space for African voices and for the African diaspora to represent their histories, identities and living traditions.
For us, dance carries more than steps. It carries memory, resistance, joy and connection. You can hear the roots in the music and feel them in the way we move, celebrate and stand together. From the African continent to diaspora communities overseas, AfroDrip gives these connections a stage, so knowledge can be shared with care, the culture can keep spreading, and the next generation can carry it forward.
Past AfroDrip editions have celebrated styles from Kuduro to Ndombolo, Kizomba to Coupé Décalé, Afro House to Pantsula, and so much more of what the African continent and its diaspora have to offer. Each edition is a space to discover, exchange and honour the richness of these cultures through dance and music.

What ticket types will there be?
A Full Pass gives you access to all classes and the festival across all three days, so you can immerse yourself in the music, explore different dance styles and share the full AfroDrip experience. A Day Pass gives you full access to one selected day, a good option if you can only join us for part of the weekend. Choose the pass that suits your time and energy, then check availability in our ticket shop. Give yourself space to enjoy the dancing, take breaks and connect with the community at your own pace.
Can I volunteer at AfroDrip Dance Camp?
Yes! We welcome people who want to help bring AfroDrip to life and create a warm, comfortable experience for our dancers and guests. Email your motivation to afrodrip@hotmail.com and tell us a little about yourself, why African dance and culture matter to you, when you are available and how you would like to contribute. Whether your strengths are organisation, welcoming people or supporting a team, we would love to hear about them. Our team will get back to you to discuss the possibilities and practical arrangements.
Where does the festival take place?
AfroDrip Dance Camp takes place at CanDance Studios, Isolatorweg 28, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Our upcoming African Diaspora Edition runs from 20 to 22 November 2026. This is where we come together to dance, exchange knowledge and celebrate the cultures behind the movement. Plan your journey in advance and allow yourself time to arrive, settle in and get ready before your first class. Wear something you can move in comfortably and keep your ticket details handy. Where can I stay?
One of our main hotel recommendations is ibis Amsterdam City West, right in front of the venue at Transformatorweg 36, Amsterdam. Staying close makes it easy to get to your classes and return to a comfortable base to rest and recharge after dancing. The hotel offers different room types, including twin rooms and rooms with three single beds, with options to consider whether you are travelling alone or sharing with friends. Check the hotel’s website for current room choices, availability and prices, and book your accommodation directly. Choose the arrangement that gives you the rest and comfort you need for the weekend.
Is AfroDrip open to beginners?
Yes, AfroDrip is open to everyone! All classes are open level, welcoming beginners as well as intermediate and advanced dancers. You do not need to arrive with every step already mastered: come with curiosity, respect for the culture and a willingness to learn. If you are new, give yourself time to find the rhythm and build confidence; if you are experienced, use the classes to deepen your foundations, musicality and connection to the style. Move at a pace that feels right for your body, take breaks when needed and ask questions when something is unclear. We are here to learn and grow together.
Can I come on my own?
Absolutely. You are welcome to come on your own, with a friend or as part of a group. A shared love of dance, music and African culture gives you a natural starting point for meeting people, even if it is your first festival. There is no need to know everyone or feel confident straight away, take your time, introduce yourself when you feel comfortable and let the classes help you connect. Enjoy the community while respecting your own energy and personal space. AfroDrip is about learning, exchanging and celebrating together, with room for your own journey.
What should I bring?
Bring comfortable clothes that let you move freely, suitable dance shoes and a refillable water bottle so you can stay hydrated throughout the day. A small towel and a change of clothes can help you feel fresh between classes. Keep your ticket details accessible and plan time to eat, rest and recharge, an inspiring dance weekend is also about looking after your body. Most of all, bring an open mind, curiosity and respect for the African roots and diaspora cultures being shared. Listen to your body, take the breaks you need and enjoy learning at your own pace.
